This picture reminds me of me and my best friend. we walk together to the park, playing and we sometimes sleep together. but i really need to accept what had happened to him, in his age he just passed away and left me. I remember how faithful my best friend was, he won't allow anyone could touch me, I remember he always wake me up every time my alarm clock rings, and i was touched knowing that he waited for too long for me to arrived from school. The color, the smoothness of the caterpillars skin, the different shapes and shades around its body, I realized how we are made beautiful and perfectly. We might thought how harsh the world to us but the thing we don't know is that it actually gave us lessons to learned and experience to cherished. The picture let us realized how little we are can be but has something we can contribute to the world, that is so Big and Wide to live in. The challenge awaits is how we can offer our beauty and how are we going to use them or how are we going to take care of it as ourselves become somebody big despite of our littleness.

What is Unique with XAVIER UNIVERSITY – NSTP?

*In Xavier University, the two components of NSTP are being handled by the Kristohanong Katilingban sa Pagkabana – Social Involvement Office or the KKP – SIO.

*The two components namely LTS and CWTS.

*The XU – NSTP is a one year formative process tailored to the capabilities of First Year Students.

*Through this program. It aimed at developing the student’s civic consciousness and holistic formation, which takes off from the Jesuits frameworks of weaving community service into the threads of academe.

*There are General Plan of action which focuses in 5 identified impact areas and these are the following: a) Environment b.) Health c) Education d.) Governance and e) Shelter.

*The Mechanics of the program are aimed at creating an impact in the communities in the Barangays by facilitating pilot projects for the local communities such as : a.) Herbal Gardening b.) Waste Management c.) Mangrove Plantation and e.)Well- participated Barangay Assemblies.

*With this intervention, it may enrich their sense of responsibility and deepen their own analysis of the social situation as they immerse themselves in the community and thus, it is the goal of the program to see and maximize their education as a tool to serve other people.

*The Xu-NSTP with CWTS and LTS adopt the two-pronged approach. This approach will be designated by two formation processes: a) Classroom Session with corresponding Reflection Sessions, (INPUT) and b) Area Work Experience.(development Assistance to the community)

*The program integrates the parallel processes of classroom intervention and community integration.

*The Sessions are inspired by the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm’s “Constant Interplay of experience, reflection, and action”.

*The values of the Ideal XU-NSTP has its root in the three fold thrust of XAVIER University formation – that is to produce XU graduates with Competence, Conscience, and Commitment.

*In Sum, an XU – NSTP graduates must have acquired the following:

a.) Nationalism – being true ATENEAN and a Filipino citizen who knows his/her role in society.
b.) Sense of Service – high regard for his/her Ateneo Education and views this as a tool for serving others esp. the poor and the underprivileged.
c.) Trustworthiness – with conscientious care and concern for environment as steward of god’s creation. And

How do Community Mapping help us?

I really have to admit I find difficulties to define and reflect on how community mapping would be of significance in my life. if others could give direct and easy explanation but for me I probably find consideration or technical factors I inhabited since young until now why problems of interpreting above question occurred. what factors? I mean, being native of this developing city, CAGAYAN de ORO CITY, I never had any MAJOR problems locating streets and baranggay except for a minor problems.

slowly but surely, little by little, the picture seems getting clearer...

until I developed and realized methods and probably answers the question.

By community mapping we will be able to trace, organize, recreate or improve and manage a certain community.

T.O.R.M.

T-race/track, this will serve as tracking and an instruction for a particular area. this will also give us proper establishing of significant places of a certain area.

O-rganize, by this method this will be able to design the community by clustering establishments or community elements. this will put elements in order and preserve open spaces.

R-ecreate, this will give improvement to the areas especially for some areas that have been abandoned, under-develop, water stagnant areas and etc. this idea can help rehabilitating the community.

and

M-anage, this will maintain the overall community, this will minimize and prevent up coming problems in the community and this will also give safety to the whole community.

with all this ideas if given a program, I believe this give the community not just safety or not just comfort for every family but also gives the whole community a productive community (e.g. commercially develop- and business opportunity).

When the great experienced man and a world war hero faces the young and a good speaker in the historical 2008 US presidential election.

The other man stood for “country's first” while the other shouts “change”. Carrying their own platforms with pride are indeed attractive globally as the last election dubbed by many as the very dramatic and historical election ever as these two candidate marked history in the entire US presidential Election. As usual speculations were arising from different channels, predictions, live and taped commentaries and the popular opinion polls. Witnessed by millions of people on how they delivered their ideologies and outstanding proposals to their people, I was struck and inspired by how these people speak, a total development and reform for the country and people but ironically, their thought have never been one or never reconcile so, the politician would dress good their speeches all the way to their supporters heart. Yes, only supporter's heart.

It was the most talked about news and stories for about a year and a half, like in YouTube's most viewed videos also recognized and to some other free video showing sites.

Well, who are these men I'm talking about? You wonder?

Contested by two of the most influential and gentlemen perhaps, from Democratic Party they have former Senator Barack Hussein Obama Jr. of Illinois Chicago; he is a black American, and a good speaker who faced one of the great World War II hero and a veteran politician Senator John Sidney McCain of the Republican Party.

In this very moment, let’s talk about the candidates profiles and qualifications including controversies molded them and on how did these gentlemen became a winner in every American eye.

Starting with the president-elect Barack Obama, he is probably the darling of the most Americans and in some areas in the world. In fact, in one of the influential newspaper and opinion polls pick Obama as the winner and predicted him as the new president of the USA. He is younger, an author of his best selling book, he speaks very well, represents a change from the hated republican administration of George W. Bush, he was a state legislator from 1997-2004 to remember a few. As other says, if you were inspired by Obama’s Speeches then pick your pocket.

Many had thought that Obama will never survive in his candidacy. There was this deteriorating commentary from his critics saying that Obama can’t be a peace ambassador himself, he might loss his confidence in the middle of his terms, there was this issue where he remained in silence, still unanswered and choose not to speak about. If you can remember the Mau-Mau rebellion in Kenya where white settlers were massacred by the black rebels, he was asked to explain and to tell something about it but he just smiled and loudly he said in a live debate covered by CNN, he can be a peace worker man but because he is a good speaker, he was called to be an expert manipulator public by his speeches, he can get out easily. Obama also became Bush’s early opponent during 9/11 attack, where said he was not against wars but he is extremely against dumb wars.

Obama said, He is more on Economy and providing safeguard of right to privacy. Where according to him he best formulated his platforms and realized after he talked to a nursery kid in the school.

Next is the man who is hopeful of making history be the last after the country’s welfare. Not less than Senator John McCain, A U.S. Senator from Arizona can prove it. We all know he is a veteran soldier of the World War II; he came from a family of soldiers loyal to American Flag. He was a navy pilot shot down in Vietnam and where he spent five and a half years as a prisoner of war at the Hanoi Hilton. He is also an author of the book “Faith of My Father” a story of his family military history and his own experiences. He is 72 years old and married to Cindy McCain May 17, 1980.

Like McCain, He also has detractors. I remember courtesy from CNN.com told readers that McCain could sometimes not be able to recall all he had been saying, in an issue of the “Keating Five” where a group of senators who were accused of improperly intervening with federal regulators and there he was involved declared through investigators as “poor Judgment” His critics also targets John on having an affair with other women while he was married with his first wife named Carol Shepp.

McCain supported the Iraq War; he also publicly supported President Bush’s bid for re-election, even though he differed with Bush on several issues including torture, pork barrel spending, illegal immigration, a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage and global warming.

Now, Americans prefer a young and good speaker who represents CHANGE over a world war hero who risked his life for flag and country, who they said a good politician. McCain is in the twilight of his years and it might be his last hurrah in politics, but just recently he announced that he will again run for a senator seat in Arizona to develop again his goal and practices. Obama in the other hand is still young, and if he doesn’t win on the last election he can still have another crack at the presidency the same way Nixon successfully did. But through my observation, McCain lost was not because Americans voted against him. It would be because they voted against the Republican administration of George W. Bush. He is indeed the collateral damaged. It is somehow like this: Ordinarily, if a candidate receives an endorsement from an out-going president, the most likely to be happen is the candidate will boost advantage from the other candidates. A good example is If Pres. GMA endorsed a candidate then obviously it is a kiss of death. Today an American hero is being defeated because his countrymen hated his party mate.

One factors of Obama’s success is that Americans liked good speakers, they love listening poems and loves inspired made movies or true to life stories. In fact, Americans pay good money just to listen to somebody delivers a good speech whereas Filipinos are paid to listened politician’s speech. That’s why good listeners earned a good living in the United States if they’re here they will surely starve.

The Moment of truth for these two candidates had already been declared. The voters of America decided to go with the man shouting about CHANGE, they believe that Obama might be the answer to their long awaited hope for success. As the new President said loud and clear: “Change has come to America”

I learn a lot and earned inspiration after I did this research. This will help me improved my self and to develop my skills and ambitions to life. This hope also tells us about bravery and determination that someday every one of us may speak about from gentlemen’s experiences and lessons.

Group Dynamics!

Last wednesday the NSTP organized another workshop, this is all about a GROUP DYNAMICS, a Group dynamics is the study of groups, and also a general term for group processes. Relevant to the fields of psychology, sociology, and communication studies, a group is two or more individuals who are connected to each other by social relationships. it was conducted by Mr. Ernesto B. Neri. the workshop aims to teach young leaders to know about groupings and other formation. i learned that in forming a group may just be simply choosing a member or a leader or may be a count down kind of group forming. but in the workshop, forming a group should also consider and must have known the stages of group dynamics, simply understanding deeply the "YOU" who responsibly accelerating the group development and its members, the type of people, the tools which includes a written record of agreement, a hand outs or manual, time schedules and other memos, to consider open communication where feedback and failure may be discussed and fixed, handling deadlock and sign posting and all that should be studied.

Let us first define, what is a Group?

• “two or more people who share a common definition and evaluation of themselves and behave in accordance with such a definition”
(Vaughan & Hogg, 2002, p. 200)
• A collection of people who interact with one another, accept rights and obligations as members and who share a common identity.

Human beings exhibit some characteristic behavior patterns in groups. People involved in managing groups and group members themselves can benefit from studying theories and doing practical exercises which help them to better understand people's behaviour in groups and group dynamics.
When group patterns are combined with study of individual development, then group dynamics can also be applied to education and therapy (as is often the case in experiential, outdoor and adventure education).
People may underestimate the importance of society and group memberships on their lives. Whilst people sometimes undertake solo journeys utter by and large much of our experiences of life involves being engaged with others and groups. The nature of these groups can be quite varied, from a family going for a walk, to the crowd at a football game, to an internet discussion group, to a group of fellow workers.
Given the diverse, yet common occurrence of groups, what is the nature and pattern of such group experiences? The social dynamics which occur within groups over time vary from group to group, but also illustrate some commonalities.

LANSAD 2: The forever living photos of war and reality in the drastic fraught of the most southern land!

Unlucky! I could not get a copy of the photos to show for you, my battery lost its charge and could not stayed too long to have few clicks. It was something that I find it spooky about that high morning hahaha I charged it every night or perhaps some D’Another didn’t allow me to get one either. Well anyway, I witnessed this years PECOJON photo exhibit held in the Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan. I had been known by some other classmates as being “amateur critique of any presentations” but that time I was not there to give comments nor because of a certain course requirements, I was there to be aware of the things which we just might have been heard from the others, a story of a poor family, a story of a war victims, or a story of a war. Can we easily relate? Literally perhaps yes! Indeed our home is not just so far from the place where the conflict is but still we do not have an exact picture to relate either it tells us about which the correct story is and who the people involve.

In the exhibit a group of pictures caught me and told a story, I saw a different face that touches my life, “a picture can also tell a story.” I said. The picture told me about a true to life story of the people in seeming war resistant place, By those pictures, it made me realized a life of many on any uncertain condition. How dangerous a person’s life in that area had been and it does made me realize how they talked about their survival every time bombs and other tararaaaat! thing they will hear. It talks to me in a real picture basing on any scene the pictures showed us. I also learned that they don’t just tell a story they’ve also awakened our thoughts and consciousness. What would that be? Don’t you know they’re shouting it loud?

well these pictures and its story also tells us the importance of being a photo journalism, a journalism, and how important pictures and news can be in our life.

That moment, I realized I never wrong about the course I have taking up. So, I realized a kind of person I should be in the future. The world has awaiting the great responsibility I could do. To show and deliver a food for thought to everyone in full responsibility is the brave way to clench the PEACE the world has thirsting in.

I hope all of us be awakened by the true story the pictures told us! Let's all help to fight against SOCIAL INJUSTICES!

Fellowship: The first way before any way.

Fellowship… first way before anyway.

What is the best character should I have to show to the world? Did I really apply my entire teacher’s teaching about enhancing my character to be a good someone to everyone?

My teacher taught me different kinds of qualities to be a good person. From Nursery until now, but there were too many of it and probably I, sometimes missed to do those. From there, I was begun to confuse myself on which would be the best character that I should do first so that I may learn all the teachings my teacher shared.

Being so confused, I initiated a little way by collecting some information from my fellow students regarding the characteristics taught by their teachers and I also ask them, what would be the important characteristic should be the first way that which creates universal peace and healthier relationship among others?

The Xavier University, the venue of my little project. I surveyed twenty five students both from the first year and second year, and another twenty from the third year and fourth year level students. here are the top three on what they had told me:

• Be Respectful to others,
• Be Honest on everything we do, and
• Be Forgiving.

These perhaps helps students enriching their attitudes to be a good student and as a person. At least they have remembered their teacher’s teaching. But what matter is, how will they be able to perform it in their everyday lives? Being respectful to someone would never be complete when you do it just because you know they are older than you or somehow you know they are in the authority. Being respectful is by exhibiting respect to everyone, or manifesting veneration. Being honest will probably equal to good living, habitually speaking the truth. Be forgiving means to be gaining more friends and able to comfort yourself. All their answers were correct but there was this something in my mind that saying that there should be other than these ways, something in general. I am thinking on a very way that when we do it, it could do a change in both school environment and in ourselves to the others in the community. It is something can answer the question, “how to start creating universal peace and healthier relationship among others?”

Until it was Sunday, still I never skip thinking on what should be this idea reminded by my mind in form of questioning and recalling. “God is so Good”. As I was on my way to the Cathedral or the St. Augustine church, a group of people catches my attention. They were like a happy one family, happy friends and happy people. I saw people shaking hands with each other, a “beso-beso”, they sang a song cheerfully, and they’re welcome seems embracing each new and old member in delightful way. they probably know each member's name. I found out they were not actually relatives, and they’re church mates in one of the recognizable religion in the community. I know that God gave me the chance to find the answer by just observing them carefully with a heart. I was silently emotional that time that my tears were slowly falling down. I was very happy to what I have learned from them, knowing these people made me realized that the world has an enormous chance of changing, from a bad habituation into newly form good habit of making fellowship.

From that realization, I was able to figure out Fellowship as the first way to do that also answered the question I have been longing to.

People ought to use the term “fellowship” for a religion. I want to use the term fellowship as a moral formation, especially to all the young people and let fellowship form a spatial ability to everyone. It should also be meant that fellowship is not just being together with friends and to whom you already know but also being friendly and nice to each and every person inside and outside the school. I want to consider the word “fellowship” as a mission, mission that God wants us to do.

Let’s imagine doing a fellowship in the school, everyone will greet you, you will be able to know every person around you, everybody will be happy, everybody will be your friends, everyone will help each other, everyone will be respected and what is next? It will also influence others to be with it also. All rules will be followed where it give benefits and safety to each students or people. We know that making a difference is not as making it an instant as you want it to be but instead it should start within us, ourselves, slowly in the process and get everyone involved and start it with a heart and everybody will be doing it with a heart. Remember that God also want us to be one, happy and peaceful.

Once you have applied it and made it happened, there you will be able to know “leadership”, where he/she only cares about the good things and welfare of his/her member.

On a junction, it has been a part of my little comedy moment in making this story, when sometimes I thought of how people even successfully changed people’s eating habits or career paths often relied on any papers they read. As people who have never tried as astounded by enormous effect it often has. How much more if we think we can change people’s behavioral manner by the form of this suggestions I have casted? Does this possibly change us? I hope it will. I wish I can be a writer with a motivating action, as quick as my ball pen writes.

How I really like to convey my fellow youngster to observe this particular suggestion. To think, when going to school and inspired by the happy people we encounter and be inspired more to learn because there are people around us who are willingly be of help in times of our difficulties. Is it not a satisfying way to start an every life in school? Are these suggestions is what you expect and it is the same as mine?

Aiming well for everyone is not a relax thing to do. It is something like a scientific process. Step by step process, investigating, observing and so on. After which, that could be the time we will know more about the things we want to do for our fellowmen. “Being with everybody is better-off than being with someone you just know.”

Let us try to think sequentially and reflect. Let us try to imagine when others may have done this already especially to you and to your family. Now, don’t be surprised! You will never know when, the time I’ll be knocking in you, just don’t look at me like I am crazy man! See you fellow!

“Prendre fellowship son prévision au changer de Dieu le ravi”

The MDG and I

After I learned all of the MDG programs, I choose to reflect in a little calm while. Then thereafter I began to compare my life from the people who have been severely deprived to food, shelter, clothing, land, and etc. I admit that sometimes I am so vocally and very expressive when I feel any inconveniences in life, especially something to feed on my pounding stomach but to imagine the families who were really out of food and shelter for each members of the family. I just gulp a few and I snap my head. I may consider my self and my family a poor but at least we can still prepare food three times a day and a good shelter that can protect us 24/7. I can still remember the videos and reports about the people including children in AFRICA, where there is a massive shortage in water and food, where some families are travelling miles of miles away in searching for food and safe place to rest in, some died because of malnutrition and some will prostituted their selves in exchange of money and food, where another rapid consequences like sexual diseases can affect everyone. In the Philippines, those cases can be more likely compared. Most alarming is that cities can be now be estimated as populous place in the country, where people coming from distant places transferred with believing that in the city, they can somehow change their state of living to a better one. For unsuccessful one its effects: they become the reason of the city’s poverty rate increase, out of school youth rate will be seemingly increased, children on the streets, families who have been into informal dwelling arrangements demolished, problems in relocation houses or site, scarcity of food and crime rate will be possible doubly increased. Moreover, the general country’s status will drastically fail to control problems that continuously occurring

Today, here in the Philippines where Families are in everyday chaos, that life isn’t that easy for every person who lives in less than 100 pesos a day. This could be considering as poor. In reality, people can not just go around to find food but in the trash can. According to the SWS survey, a person is convinced about everything’s price increased. It is manifested by the fact that the OIL price is unstable resulting to a fare hike, agricultural products and materials are also likely to follow, other products and services or charges will also be increased. So as to expect that a person holding a 100 peso bill can not sustain himself for living. More consequently, as he walks along the way his 100 peso bill may be robbed otherwise. Speaking about robbery, it is a crime. Where I believe because of extreme poverty they choose to risk lives in favor to their personal and social disabilities. “I also believe that the one produces a person to do any crime is the pain they feel in their stomach.”

With all the feeling appeared as I wrote these realizations, I feel remorseful to the family around the world that suffers a very great struggle in poverty. If only a person develop a kind communication with their conscience, it will be hopeful to these families to move on to a life that changes everything seeing no pain and problems. I always compare my life to them in a fair, YES! I am lucky. But the fact says that their current situation could be also our future when people like them will be ignored and will continue to double by their total population.

Therefore as a youth, I should not just leave it as to be read, I am caring for my future and to the whole world. I, making a difference should start in my self. I must take a move while the iron is hot. I want to help people against social injustices; I want to save the world from dying, I want help people live and I want the people to be healthy. I hope God will hear me and help me achieving this goal as I signed to be committed to him, so help me GOD!

In helping a house bulid project.

It was a good and sunny morning when the whole CWTS-L class preparing for our take off to our area activity- Oro Habitat for Humanity. We were kind of excited to go to the area for we can see the place which we thought a full of beautiful, big, and with every thing nice there but instead we were shocked. We saw a house stands unfinished and underdeveloped. I also learned through my asking that the said foundation could sometimes feel dearth on funds where then the spirit of charity and volunteerism keeping the foundation going.

We were actually informed to go there for a cause; we are to help the people working there, particularly to the families who are the beneficiary of the said foundation. I can categorize the kind of family that can own a house inside the foundation. First, they are a family whom there is disabled member in the family and second, a family who has been severely deprived to shelter, perhaps the poorest. I learn a story from one family, they use to rest and sleep besides the harmful streets, they keep on transferring from one place to another depending if they will find the place safe and easier for them to acquire food. The mother added as she wipes her tears that they had unkind experiences when authorities would run after them. She describes how terrible their experience was, beaten, the authority would tore their clothes and confiscate their things and there was a time they were place in jail and so on. Something hits me right down exactly to my heart while she was telling a story, I noticed her very little girl aging from about 2-3 years old who suddenly appear from her back holding her mothers’ skirt. Emotionally, I was in a sudden silent moment, I know I was going to cry, anytime my tears would fall. I couldn’t imagine the tragic experience this little girl gone through. Why would the chances allow these little children to experience drastic happenings? But I keep being strong and still, I should not show any weaknesses, I want to encourage the family to be strong and positive. I know if I give in, it would not help. Her husband have lost his left leg after the accident, I could even see her husband carrying one small pale of cement, their own little way of contribution from the grace the ORO HABITAT could so far offer.

My classmates and I was busy scraping cement in to the pale as some forming a chain to pass the pale on, it seems that we had taken a bath from our sweat and our shirts full of dirt but we did not reprehend all that we think was we did it with heart and with our dedication. We are happy that we gave those smiles on their faces and a happiness they will surely treasure.

After a long day, we cleaned everything we need to clean as our transport waiting until we all settled. I observed that as they bid goodbye to the family and to the organizers all eye was looking to the houses, as I too. When we come back, we hope this empty field will be full of houses with a happy family. For me, I wish that someday my way of helping is to invest my knowledge learned from school, my skills and my faith to our GOD.

"Stop the Aerial Spraying" Campaign.

Banana plantations utilize various agricultural production practices that harm people and environment. One of this is aerial spraying, where pesticides are sprayed to bananas using airplanes. Unfortunately, the pesticide does not just land on the bananas. Because of the unavoidable wind drift, the pesticide drifts to people, their houses, other crops, water springs, etc.

Plantations companies can utilize various ground spraying methods in using pesticides, with less drift, but refuse to do so in spite of the public clamor, because aerial spraying is cheaper for them. They don’t want their profit to be sliced, which is unavoidable in the beginning should they shift to ground spraying.

Davao City is the third place in the Philippines to ban aerial spraying. The first was the province of Bukidnon which banned the practice in 2001. Inspite of the ban, banana companies continue to be produced in Bukidnon. Davao City passed the ordinance in February 2007, but the ordinance' implementation was subsequently put on hold because the multinational plantation companies filed a case in court questioning the validity of the ordinance.

So in Davao and many other places in Mindanao, children on their way to school, families in their homes, plantation workers, the environment get routinely doused and exposed to pesticides.

An international campaign is necessary to enjoin the consumers of bananas to help change the practices of the plantations starting with the banning of aerial spraying in Davao and other banana producing areas in the Philippines.

The plantation companies only know the language of money. If they think that the profitability of their business will be compromised, that their buyers, their market are the oned demanding the change in practice, they there is increased chance that the companies will change their ways.

Issues

Aerial spraying affects:
• people’s health – respiratory infections, skin infections, goiter, blindness, hind leg paralysis, various forms of cancer
• environment – contaminates open bodies of water, soil
• economic livelihood of non-banana producing farmers – non-banana crops of farmers such as durian, coconut, lanzones, etc are damaged because of the pesticide used in aerial spraying and also the increasing pest infestation coming from banana farms.

Bill Clinton giving up the goods to the Obama team

Some husbands send flowers. Some buy chocolate. In the Hillary-Bill relationship, he gives up sources of foreign income and names of donors to show his support.

As the Obama transition team vets Hillary Clinton for a possible appointment as Secretary of State, a reported sticking point in the process has been Bill and his charitable foundation. The Clinton Global Initiative, a subset of the William J. Clinton Foundation, has extensive overseas dealings, possible conflicts-of-interest should his wife become secretary of state.

AP is reporting today that Hillary believes "the job is hers if she wants it." And there are multiple reports that the former president is making concessions in the Obama team's vetting requests, including an AP report that Clinton "has agreed to release the names of several major donors to his charitable foundation and will submit future foundation activities and paid speeches to a strict ethics review, said Democrats knowledgeable about the discussions."

The New York Times says, "He would also cede day-to-day responsibility for his foundation so long as his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, served."

Politico comes with the most intriguing information of the day -- that an announcement of a formal offer, should it be made, could come as early as next week.

This flurry of new reports comes amidst two pieces of interesting news. The first is that Hillary may not be sold on the job and wants to try her hand at health-care reform again. The other is that in a new Rasmussen report, 33 percent of people polled thought Colin Powell would do the best work at his old job in State (28 percent thought Hillary Clinton would be best). Rasmussen says that "none of the other possible candidates comes even close," including John McCain (17 percent), Al Gore (6 percent), and Richard Lugar (5 percent).

If Hillary Clinton is offered the Cabinet post, she'll be one of many reported Clinton administration retreads working in or with the Obama administration. Eric Holder, a deputy at the Department of Justice during the Clinton administration, was reportedly offered the job of attorney general. Before Rahm Emanuel was a congressman, he was a senior advisor in the Clinton White House. He's now Obama's chief of staff. John Podesta, heading up the Obama transition, is Clinton's former chief of staff.

Obama has said he may be looking to create a "team of rivals." But this stack-up of Clinton veterans in the Obama administration has already caused buzz that this may not be what some people were looking for when they voted for change. Buried in that Rasmussen poll was this nugget: "Despite the support for Clinton to be secretary of state, 70% of voters think Obama should reach out and appoint new people for his Cabinet rather than including more people who served in the Clinton administration."

One big-name non-Clinton now associated with the Obama administration surfaced in news reports today. Tom Daschle, the former Senate Majority Leader, has accepted a cabinet post at Health and Human Services.

Wait! just before you read me! I wanna ask you, Are you HUNGRY? then read this before you eat and sleep.

We all know what hunger is. We recognize that feeling in our stomachs. And when we feel it, we don’t usually have too much of a problem putting an end to it.

But for more than 850 million people, the hunger never ends.
Starvation

Try to imagine what it would be like if you were hungry and no food was available. None. Your body starts to feed on its own fat and body tissues. If you don’t eat for a long time, you may lose about 50 percent of your body weight. Your skin becomes thin, stiff, pale, and cold. Your hair becomes dry and sparse and falls out easily. After about 8 to 12 weeks without food, you starve to death.

Starvation caused by famine is the most serious form of hunger.

FAO works to make sure famines never happen. It constantly keeps an eye on the food situation in countries all over the world. When a crisis appears on the horizon, it sounds an alarm. Want to find out more? Why don’t you meet Aziz Arya.

Many people have seen images of famine: children with swollen bellies and skinny arms and legs. These terrible pictures and news stories often grab headlines, but they give a very narrow picture of what hunger is.
Undernourishment and food insecurity

Most of the world’s hungry are not on the point of starvation. Their suffering doesn’t make the news.

People who are chronically hungry are undernourished. They don’t eat enough to get the energy they need to lead active lives. Their undernourishment makes it hard to study, work or even play. Undernourished children do not grow as quickly as healthy children. Mentally, they may develop more slowly. Constant hunger weakens the immune system and makes them more vulnerable to diseases and infections.

Mothers living with constant hunger often give birth to underweight and weak babies. And this has fatal consequences. The World Health Organization estimates that well over 3 million deaths every year can be attributed to children being born underweight.

Every day, millions of people around the world eat only the bare minimum of food to keep themselves alive. Every night, they go to bed not certain whether there will be food enough to eat tomorrow. This uncertainty about where the next meal will come from is called ‘food insecurity’. FAO defines food insecurity as:

“A situation that exists when people lack secure access to sufficient amounts of safe and nutritious food for normal growth and development and an active and healthy life.”

FAO’s mission is to help member countries make sure that no one is food insecure.
The hidden hunger

There is another kind of hunger you should know about. Millions of people survive on a very limited diet. They eat almost the same thing every day. Because of this, they don’t get the vitamins and minerals they need to be healthy.

This micronutrient malnutrition is often called the "hidden hunger". It affects over 2 billion people and it has serious consequences.

For example, between 100 and 140 million children suffer from vitamin A deficiency. As a result, more than 2 million children each year suffer severe problems with their eyesight. An estimated 250 000 to 500 000 are permanently blinded.

Iodine deficiency is another terrible problem. Each year, 100 000 babies are born with irreversible brain damage because their mothers’ diets lacked iodine before and during pregnancy.

Overall, chronic undernourishment and a diet that lacks essential vitamins and minerals kill more than 5 million children every year.

Remember, these people don’t live on another planet. These are your neighbours. We need to look after one another.

Another Philippine’s best for a new record and pride.

We maybe still hoping and struggling for our very first gold in the Olympics but in any competitions we can dig up new record and pride as easy as voting.
WWW.new7wonders.com , A nature lover website is again looking for a new seven wonders. Last June 2008 when I started monitoring the movements of each candidate, especially in the top 10 where candidates are experiencing the crucial stage, I have found out that in just few weeks there is going to be a sudden change to each positions. Each nominee obtains a position depending on the votes it collected. December 2008 is the final judging and the crowning of the new 7 wonders of the world.
Like some of the candidates around the world, the Philippine’s candidate made also in the top 10, in fact three of the best sceneries was able to find their position playing inside the top 10. These are:

Also a quick runner, Philippine’s perfect cone volcano from Albay. “Mayon Volcano”. Mayon Volcano was actually not in the official list of the new7wonders.com live ranking for the top 77 several weeks ago. But in the month of May and June this volcano had its progress replacing the 15th and 16th placer. Few weeks later, this volcano was again showing aggressiveness replacing the 12th placer and eventually begun holding position inside the top 10.
It was great when people came from other places casted their appreciations and positive comments about above mentioned contestants found in every candidate’s introduction and presentation.
Last August 18, 2008, a very alarming information and unexpected fall down I saw in the LIVE RANKING where the candidates from the Philippines had its crash. The three of them are down and currently not in the top 10 and Mayon Volcano also fell down and did not even get the chance to get back where it first debuted.
This is perhaps because of the absence of the votes. The current votes of these candidates may not fight over as of this moment against other contender’s current number of votes which is now ahead from them.
It is not yet too late, there are still huge chances to rescue these candidates, we can still vote until December.

There are 7 suggestions I learn and shared to many to help our candidates make it in the new 7 wonders of the world:

1. Vote as many as you can; each voter is allowed to vote as many as he/she want to. Final voting ends on December, you must also have a valid e-mail account to be able to vote. Be sure to register and verify the mail sent by the new7wonders.com system administrator.
2. Tell a friend and classmate about the matter. It is indeed one of effective way collecting and increasing the votes.
3. Make a simple advertisements; if you are really passionate about saving the earth probably you must be nature lover, you must have an enormous initiative to tell anyone about the competition.
4. Convey an influential agency and institution. Ask help from a TV and Radio stations, school organizations and Internet café owner. The church may somehow help about this. Government agency and NGO’s
5. Start Email your friends, relatives and other reliable websites owner especially from abroad whom you think can make contributions.
6. Make a blog or advertisements over the internet. Be sure to paste and flag your blog in any websites, please secure permission in doing so.
7. Consider using short messaging service (SMS) also known as text messaging in your cellular phone to disseminate information about the matter.

Fellowship.. first way than any other...

What is the best character should I have to show to the world? Did I really apply my entire teacher’s teaching about enhancing my character to be a good someone to everyone?

My teacher taught me different kinds of qualities to be a good person. From Nursery until now, but there were too many of it and probably I, sometimes missed to do those. From there, I was begun to confuse myself on which would be the best character that I should do first so that I may learn all the teachings my teacher shared.

Being so confused, I initiated a little way by collecting some information from my fellow students regarding the characteristics taught by their teachers and I also ask them, what would be the important characteristic should be the first way that which creates universal peace and healthier relationship among others?

The Xavier University, the venue of my little project. I surveyed twenty five students both from the first year and second year, and another twenty from the third year and fourth year level students. here are the top three on what they had told me:

• Be Respectful to others,
• Be Honest on everything we do, and
• Be Forgiving.

These perhaps helps students enriching their attitudes to be a good student and as a person. At least they have remembered their teacher’s teaching. But what matter is, how will they be able to perform it in their everyday lives? Being respectful to someone would never be complete when you do it just because you know they are older than you or somehow you know they are in the authority. Being respectful is by exhibiting respect to everyone, or manifesting veneration. Being honest will probably equal to good living, habitually speaking the truth. Be forgiving means to be gaining more friends and able to comfort yourself. All their answers were correct but there was this something in my mind that saying that there should be other than these ways, something in general. I am thinking on a very way that when we do it, it could do a change in both school environment and in ourselves to the others in the community. It is something can answer the question, “how to start creating universal peace and healthier relationship among others?”

Until it was Sunday, still I never skip thinking on what should be this idea reminded by my mind in form of questioning and recalling. “God is so Good”. As I was on my way to the Cathedral or the St. Augustine church, a group of people catches my attention. They were like a happy one family, happy friends and happy people. I saw people shaking hands with each other, a “beso-beso”, they sang a song cheerfully, and they’re welcome seems embracing each new and old member in delightful way. they probably know each member's name. I found out they were not actually relatives, and they’re church mates in one of the recognizable religion in the community. I know that God gave me the chance to find the answer by just observing them carefully with a heart. I was silently emotional that time that my tears were slowly falling down. I was very happy to what I have learned from them, knowing these people made me realized that the world has an enormous chance of changing, from a bad habituation into newly form good habit of making fellowship.

From that realization, I was able to figure out Fellowship as the first way to do that also answered the question I have been longing to.

People ought to use the term “fellowship” for a religion. I want to use the term fellowship as a moral formation, especially to all the young people and let fellowship form a spatial ability to everyone. It should also be meant that fellowship is not just being together with friends and to whom you already know but also being friendly and nice to each and every person inside and outside the school. I want to consider the word “fellowship” as a mission, mission that God wants us to do.

Let’s imagine doing a fellowship in the school, everyone will greet you, you will be able to know every person around you, everybody will be happy, everybody will be your friends, everyone will help each other, everyone will be respected and what is next? It will also influence others to be with it also. All rules will be followed where it give benefits and safety to each students or people. We know that making a difference is not as making it an instant as you want it to be but instead it should start within us, ourselves, slowly in the process and get everyone involved and start it with a heart and everybody will be doing it with a heart. Remember that God also want us to be one, happy and peaceful.

Once you have applied it and made it happened, there you will be able to know “leadership”, where he/she only cares about the good things and welfare of his/her member.

On a junction, it has been a part of my little comedy moment in making this story, when sometimes I thought of how people even successfully changed people’s eating habits or career paths often relied on any papers they read. As people who have never tried as astounded by enormous effect it often has. How much more if we think we can change people’s behavioral manner by the form of this suggestions I have casted? Does this possibly change us? I hope it will. I wish I can be a writer with a motivating action, as quick as my ball pen writes.

How I really like to convey my fellow youngster to observe this particular suggestion. To think, when going to school and inspired by the happy people we encounter and be inspired more to learn because there are people around us who are willingly be of help in times of our difficulties. Is it not a satisfying way to start an every life in school? Are these suggestions is what you expect and it is the same as mine?

Aiming well for everyone is not a relax thing to do. It is something like a scientific process. Step by step process, investigating, observing and so on. After which, that could be the time we will know more about the things we want to do for our fellowmen. “Being with everybody is better-off than being with someone you just know.”

Let us try to think sequentially and reflect. Let us try to imagine when others may have done this already especially to you and to your family. Now, don’t be surprised! You will never know when, the time I’ll be knocking in you, just don’t look at me like I am crazy man! See you fellow!
